Woodstock is a perfect location for exploring one of the best areas in England
Woodstock is a picturesque, historic market town with a difference, thanks to its immediate, on-foot access to Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage Site often referred to as Britain’s greatest palace. Woodstock, eight miles north west of Oxford is often visited for two reasons: Blenheim Palace - birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill; and his grave in nearby Bladon. However, Woodstock has much more to offer... It is a fine Georgian town with a distinct Royal heritage, containing many attractive period buildings: the 18th century Town Hall; the Church of St Mary Magdalene with its Norman doorway, early English windows and a musical clock, which plays tunes hourly.
Woodstock is renowned for its antique shops but also has an interesting selection of other shops and galleries, as well as some excellent pubs and restaurants
